Homes in Saint James
Saint James is an unincorporated hamlet in the Town of Smithtown, with Lake Avenue as its main street and a Long Island Rail Road station on the Port Jefferson Branch. To the north it runs toward Stony Brook Harbor and the Village of Head of the Harbor.
It has some of the older houses in the town, near Lake Avenue and toward the harbor, alongside larger estate era homes and the ranches, capes, and colonials of later decades. Older homes here carry porches, trim, and stairs worth keeping.
Common projects are kitchens and baths, additions that match the house, and period carpentry: trim, stairs, entries, and porches. Permits go through the Town of Smithtown, or through a village building department where the house is inside one. We handle all permits and plans.
